Shikhara Hand Gesture (Mudra)

Here all the fingers are bent and pressed against the Palm except the thumb. The thumb is raised and held erect. (like the thumbs-up Sign)

Viniyoga Shlokam:

Madanay Karmukay Sthambhay Nishchaye Pitrakarmani
Oshthay Pravishtyarupay cha radanay prashnabhavanay
lingay nasitivachanay smaranay abhinayantikay
katibandhakarshany cha parirambhavidhikramay
ghantadinaaday shikharay yujyantay bharatadibihi

It is used to denote the following:

  • Madanay: God of love
  • Karmukhay: A Bow
  • Sthambhay: A Pillar
  • Nishchaye: to decide
  • Pitrakarmani: Making offering to Manes
  • Oshthay:  lips
  • Pravishtarupaye: to Enter or to pour
  • Radanay: Tooth
  • Nastiti vachanay: To say no
  • Smaranay: An act of remembering
  • Abhinayantikay: To act
  • katibandhakarshay : To tie around the waist
  • Parirambha vidhikramay: to embrace
  • Ghantaninaday: Ringing of bells
  • shikharo : peak
