As described in my previous post on Namaskar, this is a traditional way to start a practice or performance. As my first video, I present the Bharatanatyam Namaskar.

Hi anjali,
I have some memories while i learnt music and my friends learnt b.natyam….I used to finish my class and used to love to peep into her class to see how they do the steps.
I used to see them chanting something before doing the namaskar…… i dont know exactly… but used to be sanskrit words,,,,, i shall mention, but pardon me , as its memory thats 38 yrs old….
archikam, bhuvanam, yasya ….. something like this and then they would do the namaskar…..
do u have anything to confirm this???!!!!
🙂 yes. Chanting Angikam Bhuvanam Vysya is in practice. Read this sloka in the following link http://onlinebharatanatyam.com/2007/12/abhinaya-in-dance-part-2/
Hi Anjali, This is really useful…Could you please tell me how can I change my bodylanguage according to the steps.how many times do i need to practice each n every step per day.:)
Hey Sindura, you will need a teacher in case you need corrections with the adavus. You can also try looking into the mirror and correcting yourself. once you have he corrections, you are free to practice any number of times.

hi yes i am a student and i am about to do my arengattram and the way my guru taught me is you do the first part when you strike your legs but then we bring the hand in shikaram and bring it around our neck then we sit down and touch the floor; eyes get up and look to our right when we stretch out our hands like a straight line then so anjali above our head and then anjali on our forehead then on our chest.. thats how i was taught… and could you make a video of boomi namaskar? thx
