Hello Anjali
I am 32 and I learnt very minimally as a child from 6-8, and due to circumstances and then studies I let it go. Now I have a 3 yo and I really want her to get a head start learning barathnatyam (watching me) so that when she is 4-5 yo or may be even 6 yo (if she needs more time) she would have watched me practice and then can start classes with me.

I am deeply moved by your efforts to make barathnatyam so accessible, and I am so happy to come across your dance instructions and explanations. I realize that you live in Schaumburg, IL, and I am not too far away (in Naperville). Do you teach adults directly? As you said, watching the videos and then coming to class prepared to fine tune is a great and probably a quicker way to learn. Considering all this, and my urge to start learning soon, please let me know what your calls schedule is and how I can integrate your online instruction with direct guru-sishyai learning.
Of course the answer to this question depends on the learner, but in general if you have had adult student before, how long does it take to perform arangetram. I am regretting for not having learnt as a child
I appreciate your encouragement and look forward to this.
MNM

Dear MNM, You dont have to regret. Start now and dont hesitate. I do teach adults the classes are in schaumburg at 9.30 am. You can reach by the phone # on the website. Naperville has couple of good teachers too. For an Arangetram give your self a two - three years time, if you learn without breaks.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

Thank you for your encouraging reply! Please send a few names of the gurus that you are familiar with in the Naperville area. I would really appreciate that. Thank you so much!
