Hi,
I have 2 daughters 7 and 4 years and interested in lessons, I dont have any experience in bharatnatyam. I just started bharatnatyam dance lesson for my 7 year old. In the first class, I noticed that there are some 4.5 year olds as well. So, I thought maybe my 4 year old will also enjoy it and tried it, she likes dancing. Now I am thinking whether I should put both in the same class. I am not sure if it is too early to start lessons for my 4 year old, as I see many recommend age 5 or 6 to start. A good thing on my side is it is easy to take them together to class and make them practice them together at home. At the same time, I feel the progress of my 7 year old may get hindered due to younger kids in the same class, as younger kids need more attention and time to learn. Can you please share your thoughts on whether its a good idea to put them together in the same class? How do families with siblings do it usually?

Another question is - how many kids to expect in a typical class? Around 5-6 kids (OR) 8-12 kids? The lower the number is the better, but I am curious on whats the average size of a class for this age kids?

Thanks!

Dear Swarna,

True that a 4 or 5 yr old needs more attention and time. Actually kids of this age are still playful and have no idea what they have come for. So it is time consuming for the teacher too. Therefore if there are kids older than them, it might get a little repetitive for them. Swarna if you can wait for another 2yrs !!!
