Hi anjali, im daphne from malaysia. Im a 23 years old girl and i have just started going for bharathanatyam classes.. it is my childhood dream to be a barathanatyam dancer.. i really really really love bharatanatyam.. but i would like to share something with you.. everytime after i finish my barathanatyam lessons, my leg really hurts and cramps a lot and d pain is so terrible till i cant practice in house. I just want to ask you is this normal to have these cramps or is it because my age is too late to learn barathanatyam? If so what can i do to relieve this terrible cramps? Pls let me know regarding any ways to relieve it. I feel sad because most of the people say im not good in dancing and im too old to learn barathanatyam  . and pls do let me know how to improve your body flexibility to perform better in barathanatyam. Your advice is really needed.. thank you in advance and have a nice day... :|

Dear Daphne, Cramps are common to dancers. Take good rest after each session. Nice oil bath relieves a lot of pain. But you sound like its really bad. check if its not hurting your bones or joint. Sole of the feet, tights, calfs, knees are common places that can hurt. But your should be able to take it and overcome them within 2 or 3 months of class. Forget about what other talk about your dance. If you enjoy the process then nothing else matters.
