Hand gesture for Goddess Parvati
Parvati:
Devi Parvati known as a consort lord Shiva. She is considered source of all universal principle of power , energy or creativity. She is the belived to be the daughter of the Himalayas. She is the mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya. When shown with Lord Shiva, shows the abhaya mudra (hand gesture of fearlessness, like every other Goddess) and usually has one of her children on her knee. Her other forms are the kali, Durga, vaishnavi, and Lalita.
With reference to dance, Abhinayadarpananam states.
udhvardaha prasutavardhachandrakhyo vamadakshinau
abhayo varadachaiva parvaryaha karaeritaha
Parvati is represented by holding Ardhachandra in the right hand, while the same hasta on the left hand facing downwards. Both the hands show the Abhaya(right that represent fearlessness) and the varadha (left hand grants boon) attributes of the goddess.
